The alluring paintings of artist Lisa Homan-Conger call to mind that life is best savoured through rose coloured glasses. “La Vie en Rose” as expressed so appropriately in French.

A romantic at heart, her painterly view of the world seeks to create a bit of mystery and intrigue with just a dash of innocence designed to soften a world lacking in these qualities.

Women often command center-stage in a Homan-Conger creation. Since childhood, Lisa has been inspired by the image of women. The ladies that Lisa creates on canvas have certainly evolved over the years but what has remained consistent is that they are ladies. Lisa is confident that the suggestion of romance is exactly that, romantic.

In 1981, Lisa graduated from The Kansas City Art Institute with honours.  She studied with the Chairman of the Painting Department, Wilbur Niewald who she credits with her understanding of colour and composition.

This artist considers herself fortunate to be indulging her senses in a career she so thoroughly relishes. Residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico she reaps the benefits of the feel-good aura so prevalent in this high-desert community. Her travels continually take her to Paris and Venice where she indulges herself in cultures that have perfected the art of living. You will find her most at home tableside at the Café de Flore sipping an espresso and watching the world go by. “What I won’t do for Art’s sake.”  She giggles...

Lisa Homan-Conger has exhibited her work professionally for over twenty years and has been featured in numerous exhibitions and in several national and international publications. She Illustrated the popular children’s book “You are Sunshine” in collaboration with the Sunshine Foundation of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
